How it works

This unofficial Missouri permit practice test holds 127 questions written from the Revised Statutes of Missouri and 48 federal road sign questions. A national question list cannot know this state's numbers. Here they are the keyed figures: 75 mph, 500 feet, age 15. Statutes last checked 18 September 2026.

No DMV: Revenue issues, the Patrol tests

The Department of Revenue issues the instruction permit, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol gives the written, vision and road sign tests. The written one is the Class F test, the same for a first permit and a regular license. Headlights go on whenever the wipers run, and in fog even when they do not (RSMo 307.020(9)). The move-over duty covers stopped vehicles showing amber or amber and white lights, such as a tow truck (304.022.2). On urban interstates with three or more lanes each way, trucks registered over 48,000 pounds stay out of the far left lane (304.015.7).

Class E is a different written test

Class E is the for-hire license for paid drivers. The Driver Guide says its written test draws mainly on the commercial vehicles chapter, while the permit and the regular license use the Class F test. Someone studying for Class E needs those for-hire questions as well. This bank covers only the rules-of-the-road half.

  • The adult seat belt law covers the driver and every front seat passenger, carries a fine of no more than $10, and does not allow a stop made only to check belts (section 307.178).
  • Rural interstates and freeways rose to 75 mph when section 304.010 changed on 28 August 2026. Older study material still says 70.
  • Before a license under 18, section 302.130 asks for 40 supervised hours, 10 of them at night.

Questions and answers

How many questions are on the Missouri permit test?

Twenty-five, all multiple choice, and you must answer 20 correctly, per the Missouri Driver Guide, revised August 2026 and checked 18 September 2026. Exam mode, below the question, asks 25 too: press Start the exam for a score against 20 and a line per topic. The vision and road sign tests are separate, so run the Topic menu's sign topics too.

Are these Missouri permit test questions and answers the real ones?

No. This site has never seen the Highway Patrol's test questions. Each sample question comes from a section of the Revised Statutes of Missouri and links to it, so you practice the rules, not a key.

Is this Missouri driving test practice or only the permit?

Only the written side. A Highway Patrol examiner scores the driving test in your car, and the Driver Guide says losing more than 30 points fails it. The practice for that is your supervised hours.
