  • Which two methods does AC 107-2A give for making sure there is enough power to continue controlled flight to a normal landing? AC 107-2A, paragraph 5.11.1, item 4; 14 CFR § 107.49(d)

How this list was compiled: Written from 14 CFR part 107, part 89 and part 48, with sections 1.1 and 91.17, read at https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-14/part-107 in the eCFR text dated 2026-09-15, and from these FAA publications: Advisory Circular 107-2A, dated 2/1/21 (https://www.faa.gov/documentLibrary/media/Advisory_Circular/AC_107-2A.pdf); the Remote Pilot Study Guide, FAA-G-8082-22, dated August 2016 (https://www.faa.gov/sites/faa.gov/files/regulations_policies/handbooks_manuals/aviation/remote_pilot_study_guide.pdf); the Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge, FAA-H-8083-25C, dated 2023, chapters 2, 14 and 17 (https://www.faa.gov/sites/faa.gov/files/04_phak_ch2.pdf, https://www.faa.gov/sites/faa.gov/files/16_phak_ch14_0.pdf, https://www.faa.gov/sites/faa.gov/files/19_phak_ch17.pdf); the Aeronautical Information Manual, paragraph 4-3-2 (https://www.faa.gov/air_traffic/publications/atpubs/aim_html/chap4_section_3.html); the Aeronautical Chart Users' Guide, effective July 9, 2026 (https://www.faa.gov/air_traffic/flight_info/aeronav/digital_products/aero_guide/); and the FAA pages LAANC (https://www.faa.gov/uas/getting_started/laanc, updated August 25, 2026), Part 107 Airspace Authorizations (https://www.faa.gov/uas/commercial_operators/part_107_airspace_authorizations, updated September 14, 2026), Part 107 Waivers (https://www.faa.gov/uas/commercial_operators/part_107_waivers, updated June 22, 2026) and Become a Certificated Remote Pilot (https://www.faa.gov/uas/commercial_operators/become_a_drone_pilot, updated June 9, 2026), which is the FAA's own page on how to get the certificate. The 2016 study guide is the edition the FAA still posts at that address. Questions on the rules that changed in 2021 (night flight, flight over people, recurrent training and remote identification) cite the rule text or AC 107-2A, not that guide. Exam facts are from the Remote Pilot Airman Certification Standards, FAA-S-ACS-10B, dated April 2021 (https://www.faa.gov/sites/faa.gov/files/training_testing/testing/acs/uas_acs.pdf): Appendix 1 for the question count, the time allowed, the pass mark, the topic weights, the minimum age and the wait before a retest, Appendix 2 for what may be used in the testing room, and Appendix 3 for the 24 calendar months a passing test report stays valid. The FAA lists the supplement book used in the testing room, FAA-CT-8080-2H, at https://www.faa.gov/training_testing/testing/supplements (page updated September 17, 2026); nothing from that book is reproduced here. All checked 2026-09-19. Each question names the section, paragraph or chapter it was written from. Licence: Own work. Questions, answer choices and explanations were written for this site from the rule text and the FAA's public documents, which are US government works. Nothing is copied from the FAA knowledge test, from the FAA testing supplement or its figures, or from any prep company or other practice test.

How it works

This unofficial Part 107 practice test holds 330 original questions for the FAA remote pilot knowledge test, the exam behind drone pilot certification. Each question was written from 14 CFR part 107, 89 or 48 or from an FAA publication, and names its section. The bank was checked on September 19, 2026. Under the question, choose one of 12 topics or Exam mode, a 60-question, 2-hour exam.

How the 12 topics map to the FAA's outline

The FAA's standards, FAA-S-ACS-10B, weight the test by subject area: regulations 15 to 25 percent, airspace 15 to 25, weather 11 to 16, loading and performance 7 to 11, operations 35 to 45. Counted by the 12 topics here, the bank sits inside each range: 81 regulations, 53 airspace, 39 weather, 24 loading and performance, 133 operations.

What exam mode copies from the real test

On All topics, Exam mode draws 60 questions and marks you against 70 percent, which is 42 right. The 2-hour clock starts when you press Start the exam, and no feedback shows until you finish or time runs out. Then you get a score, a by-topic table that marks your weakest topic, and every miss with its source. The draw is random, not weighted by subject area, so a topic gets about five questions and that mark is only a hint.

The figures book this page cannot show you

The proctor provides a supplement book, which the FAA posts as FAA-CT-8080-2H at faa.gov/training_testing/testing/supplements. Its contents page lists a chart legend, METAR and TAF figures and sectional chart excerpts. This tool shows no images, so chart questions describe a symbol in words, which teaches the decoding but not the hunt across a crowded chart. Open the FAA's Aeronautical Chart Users' Guide (faa.gov/air_traffic/flight_info/aeronav/digital_products/aero_guide) beside a sectional chart of your area.

  • Start with operating rules. The section 107.51 limits (400 feet above ground, 100 miles per hour, 3 miles of visibility, 500 feet below and 2,000 feet beside clouds) return in scenarios across other topics.
  • Decode every METAR in the same order: station, time, wind, visibility, weather, sky, temperature and dew point, altimeter. The ceiling is the lowest broken or overcast layer, or the vertical visibility.
  • Chart heights come in pairs: the upper figure is feet above mean sea level, and the one in parentheses is feet above ground, the one Part 107 limits use.
  • After a miss, open the source link under the explanation. Rule questions often turn on one phrase, such as "sustained flight" in the over-people rules. Handbook links are large PDFs, so use wifi.

Questions and answers

Is the Part 107 test hard?

That depends on what you already know. The test reaches past drone rules into airspace classes, weather reports, chart symbols, loading and crew decision-making. This page has no pass-rate figure and does not guess at one.

What is the Part 107 passing score, and how many questions?

The FAA's standards, FAA-S-ACS-10B Appendix 1, give 60 multiple-choice questions, up to 2 hours, and 70 percent to pass. That is 42 correct, so you can miss 18. After a failed attempt, 14 CFR 107.71 sets a wait of 14 calendar days. Appendix 3 keeps a passing test report valid for 24 calendar months. Figures read September 19, 2026.

What do I bring to the Part 107 test?

FAA-S-ACS-10B Appendix 1 asks for identification with your photograph, signature and date of birth, plus a residential address if your mailing address is a post office box. Registering takes an FAA Tracking Number from an IACRA account. Under Appendix 2 the proctor provides the supplement book, and the center may provide a calculator or refuse your own.

Is there a Part 107 practice test PDF?

Not a fixed file, which would go stale when a rule changes. After a round, Print lists its questions, to trim or add to, and a tick prints the matching answer key. Your browser's print window can save either as a PDF.

Are these the real Part 107 test questions and answers?

No. Every question is original, and nothing is copied from the FAA knowledge test, its figures book or a prep company. Rule questions follow the eCFR text of 14 CFR part 107 dated September 15, 2026. The FAA's study guide, dated August 2016, is still the edition it posts, and no question on the rules changed in 2021 (night flight, flight over people, remote identification) rests on it.

Do I have to retake the Part 107 test every two years?

No. Under 14 CFR 107.65, a certificate holder stays current by completing recurrent training within the previous 24 calendar months. The FAA's own page, faa.gov/uas/commercial_operators/become_a_drone_pilot, updated June 9, 2026, lists that training as an online course at no cost. The first test is taken by appointment at a knowledge testing center.
