How this list was compiled: Written from the Code of Alabama 1975, Title 32, as published by the Alabama Legislature at https://alison.legislature.state.al.us/code-of-alabama, checked 2026-09-19. Each question names its section and links to the Legislature's page for it. License class facts on the page come from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, https://www.alea.gov/dps/driver-license/license-and-id-cards/driver-licenses-classes-endorsements-and-restrictions and https://www.alea.gov/dps/driver-license/driver-license-manuals, checked 2026-09-19. Those pages state no question count, pass mark or time limit for the motorcycle knowledge test, so none is given here. Licence: Own work. Questions, answer choices and explanations were written for this site from the statute text; nothing is copied from the Alabama Motorcycle License Manual, the Alabama Driver Manual or another practice test.

How it works

This unofficial Alabama motorcycle test bank holds 108 questions from Title 32 of the Code of Alabama, each with its section. It works as an Alabama motorcycle permit practice test, though the sections cited here create no separate motorcycle learner's permit. No question covers riding technique, so study the agency's Motorcycle License Manual too. Law checked September 2026.

Class M, the motor-driven cycle at 14, and headgear with shoes

Section 32-5A-240 asks for a Class M, earned by a knowledge test the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency designates or a rider course the section names. Section 32-12-22 opens a Class M restricted to motor-driven cycles at 14. Section 32-5A-245 puts headgear and shoes on everyone aboard. Riders 17 or younger keep the midnight to 6 a.m. hours of section 32-6-7.2.

What the agency publishes about the Alabama motorcycle test

The Alabama motorcycle test is a knowledge test the agency designates under section 32-5A-240. Its fee page, checked September 2026, lists a $5 test fee, matching section 32-6-21, and $36.25 to purchase the license. The agency pages read for this page state no question count, pass mark or time limit. So Exam mode's 25 questions are this site's choice, scored with no pass or fail. A wrong answer lands under Missed, and Clear my progress empties it.

  • Set Start from to Permits and the endorsement first: the routes to a Class M, the under-18 hours and the motor-driven cycle license at 14 sit in sections 32-5A-240, 32-6-7.2 and 32-12-22.
  • Keep the two motor-driven cycle definitions apart: section 32-1-1.1 adds five brake horsepower and 150 cc to the 200-pound line in 32-12-20.
  • Learn chapter 5's motorcycle exceptions: one brake, one or two head lamps, one reflector, no beam indicator.

Questions and answers

Do you have to wear a helmet on a motorcycle in Alabama?

Yes, at every age. Section 32-5A-245 puts protective headgear, built to the specifications in section 32-12-41, on everyone who operates or rides, and subsection (b) adds shoes. The section leaves out people riding within an enclosed cab and the operator of an autocycle.

Does Alabama have a motorcycle learner's permit?

Not as a separate permit in the sections cited here: sections 32-5A-240 and 32-12-22 go straight to a Class M. The learner's license in section 32-6-8 has an accompanying-driver rule that excepts motorcycles. Ask the agency how it licenses a new rider.

Will these questions appear on the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's test?

Do not expect them to. This site is unofficial, has no tie to the agency and has never seen its question pool. Every item was written from the Code of Alabama, and none was copied from the Motorcycle License Manual, which teaches the riding technique this bank leaves out.
