How this list was compiled: Written from the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways, 11th Edition (December 2023), Federal Highway Administration, https://mutcd.fhwa.dot.gov/kno_11th_Edition.htm, checked 2026-09-18. Each question names the MUTCD section it was written from. Licence: Own work. Question wording, answer choices and explanations were written for this site from the MUTCD text; nothing is copied from a state driver manual or another practice test.
How it works
Florida's learner's license exam runs 50 questions, and 40 right answers pass it. This unofficial Florida permit practice test draws 253 questions from chapters 316, 322 and 324 of the Florida Statutes, links each to its section, and adds 48 on federal road signs. Statutes checked 18 September 2026.

No DMV in Florida: who gives the exam
The Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, FLHSMV, writes the exam. Service centers and tax collector offices give it. Its name is the Class E Knowledge Exam, and this page rehearses its traffic law half. Applicants under 18 may test online with a Parent Proctoring Form.
What the Florida Statutes put in this bank
Section 322.12 orders at least 25 questions on bicycle and pedestrian safety in the state's bank, so the 3-foot passing rule and the crosswalk stops are here. So are recent changes: the Move Over Act now covers a disabled car showing hazard lights, s. 316.1922 makes 50 mph over the limit a jailable offense, and a first breath test refusal became a misdemeanor in 2025. Headlamps go on in any rain, smoke or fog, noon included (s. 316.217).
A learner's license holder drives only with a licensed driver aged 21 or older in the closest seat to the right, in daylight for the first 3 months and then until 10 p.m. (s. 322.1615).
Press Exam mode under the question, then Start the exam. Marks come at the end. Press Missed to retry wrong answers until you get them right. Clear my progress, pressed twice, wipes all scores and saved questions on this device.
A school zone limit cannot be set under 15 mph except by local regulation, tops out at 20 in an urbanized area, and may start 30 minutes before pupils arrive (s. 316.1895).
Questions and answers
How many questions are on the Florida permit test, and how many can you miss?
Fifty multiple-choice questions on traffic laws, safe driving and traffic controls, and you can miss 10: 40 correct, or 80 percent, pass, per the department's Class E Knowledge Exam page, checked 18 September 2026.
Does this page list the Florida permit test answers?
No. This site has not seen the department's exam questions. Section 322.12 speaks of a bank of test questions, not a fixed list of 50, so there is no set to memorize. Each question here was written from a section of the Florida Statutes and links to it.
Who signs for a Florida learner under 18?
A parent or guardian signs the application before someone authorized to administer oaths, or another responsible adult if there is none (s. 322.09). A minor's negligence at the wheel is imputed to the person who signed.
