How it works
This unofficial North Dakota permit practice test asks 448 free questions from Title 39 of the North Dakota Century Code, and every explanation names its section. Another 48 cover federal road signs. Expect the state's own numbers: a permit at 14, a supervising driver of at least 18, 12 points to a suspension.

What NDDOT says about the ND drivers permit test
NDDOT calls it the Rules of the Road knowledge test and follows it with a vision screening. Its learner's permit page, checked 19 September 2026, lists $5 per office attempt, one attempt a day, a $15 permit and 14 test languages. Online, the department's testing platform charges $10 per attempt, allows 60 minutes and reopens 24 hours after a fail.
A North Dakota practice permit test that names its statute
Most ND practice permit test pages paraphrase the manual. Here each question started from a Century Code section, and that citation, such as N.D.C.C. § 39-10-46 for school buses, shows under the explanation. It is North Dakota permit test practice with the law book open.
§ 39-09-02 sets the speeds: 20 mph past a school at recess, 25 in a business or residence district, 55 on gravel, 80 on the interstate.
This is a practice permit test ND learners can split. Pick Right-of-way, school buses and emergency vehicles in the Topic menu for a 65-question round.
Emergency vehicles get room by statute: stay 500 feet behind one showing its emergency light, and do not stop within 200 feet of one answering a 911 call (section 39-10-57).
Questions and answers
Is the ND permit test 25 questions?
No published source confirms it. NDDOT's learner's permit page, the online testing platform's pages and the Noncommercial Drivers License Manual, all read 19 September 2026, state no question count or pass mark. Treat any other number as unconfirmed. The 25 questions in Exam mode, below the question, are this site's practice length, not the state's, and the result is a score with no pass verdict.
Can I take the ND drivers permit test at home?
Yes. NDDOT names one online knowledge testing platform, open to residents at least 14. It needs a webcam, and a parent or guardian registers with anyone under 18. State law has that parent certify they monitored the test (N.D.C.C. § 39-06-13). Five fails mean a one-year wait online.
What comes after the permit in North Dakota?
Holding time. NDDOT says 14- and 15-year-olds keep the permit at least one year, complete driver's education and log 50 practice hours. Those aged 16 or 17 keep it six months. Every permit drive needs a licensed driver of at least 18 with three years' experience beside you (§ 39-06-04).
