How it works

This unofficial Florida state construction examination practice test asks only what the statutes say: chapters 489, 455 and 713, read on October 4, 2026. Accounting, estimating and trade questions from the exam's reference books are not here.

What this practice test covers

The Start from menu has six parts: who needs a license, certification and renewal, qualifying agents, contracts and the recovery fund, discipline, and construction liens. Use it as a Florida contractors exam practice test for the law only. The board's rules are not asked.

What it leaves out

The state exam also draws on reference books for accounting, estimating, safety and each trade. None of that is here, so this is not a full Florida general contractor license practice exam. The department's site has the current exam content.

  • Many answers are a number of days or a dollar amount, so read each choice to the end.
  • After a miss, open the link and read the whole statute section.
  • Wrong answers go to Missed until you answer them right.

Questions and answers

Is this the real FL contractor exam?

No. It is unofficial practice written from the Florida Statutes. The Construction Industry Licensing Board and the department did not write or review this page, and none of the state exam's questions appear here.

Is this a Florida general contractor practice test free PDF?

It is free, and you can print the questions or save them as a PDF from your browser. It covers only the law in chapters 489, 455 and 713, not the reference-book subjects.

What does the general contractor license Florida practice test here leave out?

Everything from the reference books: accounting, estimating, project management, safety and trade knowledge. Only statute questions are asked, and each answer cites its section.

Is there a Florida roofing license practice test here?

Roofing contractors are licensed under the same chapter 489, so the law questions apply to them. One question covers canceling a roof contract signed after an emergency. Roofing trade knowledge is not asked.

Which statutes do the questions come from?

Chapter 489, Part I (construction contracting), chapter 455 (general rules for the department's licensees) and chapter 713, Part I (the Construction Lien Law), read on the Legislature's Online Sunshine site on October 4, 2026.
