How this list was compiled: Written from the Nebraska Revised Statutes, Chapter 60 (Motor Vehicles), sections 60-4,127, 60-4,114, 60-4,123, 60-4,124, 60-6,310, 60-2121, 60-2125, 60-2126, 60-6,279, 60-6,244, 60-6,226, 60-6,307, 60-6,308, 60-6,312, 60-6,306, 60-6,313, 60-639, 60-637, 60-640, each read on the Nebraska Legislature's site, https://nebraskalegislature.gov/laws/browse-chapters.php?chapter=60, on 2026-09-30. Each question names its section and links to it. That an examination stands behind the Class M license is Neb. Rev. Stat. § 60-4,127(1): no Class M license is issued until the applicant has completed an examination, including the actual operation of a motorcycle, which may be waived on proof of a motorcycle safety course under the Motorcycle Safety Education Act within the preceding twenty-four months; § 60-4,114(3)(c) makes an inquiry into the applicant's knowledge of the motor vehicle laws part of the application process. No Department of Motor Vehicles page giving the number of questions or a pass mark for the motorcycle test could be opened on 2026-09-30 (the address tried returned 404), so neither is used. Licence: Own work. Questions, answer choices and explanations were written for this site from the statute text; nothing is copied from the Nebraska motorcycle manual, the Motorcycle Safety Foundation or another practice test.
How it works
This unofficial Nebraska motorcycle practice test has 48 questions from Chapter 60 of the Nebraska Revised Statutes, with the section under each. It covers the law only; riding technique is in the state's motorcycle manual, so study that too.

Class M and the helmet exception
Nobody rides a motorcycle on a Nebraska highway without a Class M license, which is an endorsement when the rider already holds a license (Neb. Rev. Stat. § 60-4,127). A helmet is required unless the rider is 21 or older and has filed proof of a named safety course, or holds another state's motorcycle license (§ 60-6,279).
What Nebraska law says about the test
Section 60-4,127 requires an examination that includes the actual operation of a motorcycle, waived on proof of a motorcycle safety course in the past 24 months. Use this as a Nebraska motorcycle license practice test for the statute half only. No Department of Motor Vehicles page with a question count or pass mark was read in September 2026, so no pass line shows.
A moped needs a valid operator's license, stays off the Interstate and sidewalks, and may not exceed 30 miles per hour (§§ 60-6,310, 60-6,313).
Questions and answers
Do you have to wear a motorcycle helmet in Nebraska?
Unless you qualify for the exception. A rider of 21 or older may go without one after completing the safety course section 60-6,279 names and filing proof with the DMV, or with another state's motorcycle license. Eye protection is required either way.
Is lane splitting legal in Nebraska?
No. Section 60-6,308 says no person shall operate a motorcycle between lanes of traffic or between adjacent lines or rows of vehicles, and a rider may not pass within the lane of the vehicle being overtaken. Peace officers on duty are excepted.
Does the Nebraska DMV publish this practice test?
No. This page is independent of the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles and is not a government website. Nobody here has seen the department's questions; every answer is drawn from a section of Chapter 60 of the Nebraska Revised Statutes.
