What the Nebraska written exam covers

NIC's bulletin (effective September 1, 2025) lists eight domains: infection control and safety 15 percent, anatomy and physiology 15, chemistry of nail products 10, pre-service 5, nail service tools 13, manicure and pedicure services 18, nail enhancement services 20 and post-service 4. Eight extra questions cover Nebraska licence law.

Nebraska rules to know cold

172 NAC 34 rejects ultraviolet light, isopropyl alcohol and hydrogen peroxide as disinfection, bans nail dusters, credo blades, styptic pencils and coarse drill bands, and has piped foot spas soaked 6 to 10 hours at the end of the day.

  • In Nebraska law, manicuring is work on natural nails; nail technology is artificial nails and the acts done with them (Neb. Rev. Stat. 38-1033, 38-1035).
  • Immersion disinfectant is thrown out at the end of every day and mixed fresh each morning (172 NAC 34-014.01).
  • Nail tip cutters are the one metal implement that may be sprayed instead of immersed (172 NAC 34-014.04).

Questions and answers

How many questions are on the Nebraska nail technician license exam?

NIC's bulletin gives 110 items, 100 of them scored, in 90 minutes. Nebraska's regulation asks for a scaled score of at least 75 (172 NAC 36). Exam mode here asks 60 questions in 49 minutes, the same pace.

Does Nebraska have a practical exam for nail technicians?

No. The Department's Nail Technology page says the NIC written examination satisfies both the written and the practical requirement, and that there is no hands-on practical exam.

Are these the real Nebraska nail technician exam questions?

No. Every question is our own, written from 172 NAC 34 and 36, Nebraska's statutes and public pages such as the National Cancer Institute's SEER modules, each named under its answer. It is free, and none comes from the exam or the bulletin's samples.
