What the questions take up
Fourteen are the Board's manicuring lines: single-use items, credo razors, sterilizing, massage limits, waxing and MMA. Eighteen are blood exposure, disinfection and establishment safety. Fifteen are license law. Nail anatomy, disorders, product chemistry and enhancement steps appear in no Wisconsin rule; the national manicure theory test on this site asks them.
- A manicurist's massage stops at the elbow and at the knee (Cos 4.10).
- After a cut: stop, put gloves on, rinse with soap and water, disinfect, bandage, discard single-use items, disinfect implements and workstation (Cos 4.05).
- No product formulated with MMA may be used, in liquid form or as one ingredient (Cos 2.03).
Questions and answers
What is on the Wisconsin manicurist exam?
Two sections, by the vendor's handbook: the national NIC Nail Technician written examination, 90 minutes, and a practical examination of about three hours on mannequins. A scaled score of 75.00 is required on each, and a failed examination is retaken in its entirety.
Does the Wisconsin nail technician exam have state law questions?
The handbook says the Wisconsin State Law questions are English only and gives no count or outline for them. The license law group here is written from chapter 454 of the statutes and the Board's rules.
How many hours is manicurist school in Wisconsin?
At least 300 training hours, completed in not less than 7 weeks and not more than 20 (Wis. Stat. 454.06(6)). The Board's syllabus splits them into 131 theory hours and 169 practical hours.
