How it works
This unofficial Delaware nail technician practice test asks what Delaware's own regulations say on the national exam's subjects. Not affiliated with the Delaware Board of Cosmetology and Barbering or the National-Interstate Council of State Boards of Cosmetology (NIC).

What the Delaware nail technician exam is
The Board requires the written theory and practical NIC examinations for the license type. For tests from November 1, 2026 the examination vendor posts NIC's bulletin effective September 1, 2025: 110 questions, 100 of them scored, 90 minutes, eight domains. Earlier dates use an older outline of nine domains.
What this bank asks
Twenty-four questions on infection control and safety, 4 on tools and their storage, 10 on paraffin, footbaths, artificial nails and scope, and 14 on license law and the apprenticeship, which the national outline does not list. Anatomy, nail disorders, product chemistry and enhancement steps have no Delaware text and are not asked; the national manicure theory test on this site covers them.
- Instruments in use on a client stay in a jar sanitizer of cotton saturated with 70% alcohol or bleach (16 DE Admin. Code 4453-5.3.2).

- Nail technicians may not remove hair by any method, waxing and tweezing included (16 DE Admin. Code 4453-5.2.7).
Questions and answers
How many hours do you need for a nail tech license in Delaware?
At least 300 hours in a school of nail technology or cosmetology, or 600 hours as an apprentice under a licensed nail technician, at no more than 40 hours a week (24 Del. C. § 5107).
What score passes the Delaware nail technician exam?
None is printed on the Board's examination page, in its rules or in the vendor's candidate manual. Under 24 Del. C. § 5108 the contracted testing service does the grading.
Are these the real Delaware nail technician exam questions?
No. Every question is our own, written from Delaware's sanitation regulation, the Board's rules and Title 24, Chapter 51, and linked to its section. Nothing comes from the examination or the sample questions in its bulletin.
