How it works
This unofficial Delaware esthetician practice test asks what Delaware's sanitation regulation and licence law say. It is not affiliated with the Delaware Board of Cosmetology and Barbering, the National-Interstate Council of State Boards of Cosmetology (NIC) or its test administrator.

What Delaware's written exam covers
NIC's bulletin for the written theory examination, effective September 1, 2025, weights Scientific Concepts at 55 percent and Skin Care and Services at 45 percent.
How the 55 questions are split
Scientific Concepts holds 31 questions (21 on infection control, 10 on safety and blood, all but one from 16 DE Admin. Code 4453) and Skin Care and Services 14. Delaware licence law takes 10 more.
- Hair removal wax serves one client, and a new applicator is used with every application (4453, 5.2.4; Board rule 16.4).
- Bleach-based disinfectant is changed daily, other solutions at least once per week (16 DE Admin. Code 4453, 7.1.2).
- Laser hair removal is prohibited, and permanent makeup needs a separate body art permit (16 DE Admin. Code 4453, 10.5 and 10.6).
Questions and answers
How many questions are on the Delaware esthetician exam?
NIC's bulletin gives the written theory examination 110 items, 100 of them scored, in 90 minutes. Delaware's statute and the Board's rules print no pass mark for it.
Does Delaware have a state law exam for estheticians?
No. The Division of Professional Regulation's examination page says Delaware requires the NIC written theory and practical examinations for the license type, and it names no Delaware law test.
Does this Delaware esthetician practice test cover the whole written exam?
No. NIC's outline has no state law part, and its anatomy, skin disorder and chemistry lines are not asked here, because no Delaware text states them. This site's Washington esthetics test follows the whole NIC outline.
Are these the real Delaware esthetician exam questions?
No. Every question is our own, written from 16 DE Admin. Code 4453, the Board's rules and 24 Del. C. chapter 51, each linked under its answer. None comes from the examination or its bulletin's sample questions.
How many hours do you need for an esthetician license in Delaware?
A course of at least 600 hours, or 1,200 hours of apprenticeship completed within 2 years (24 Del. C. § 5127). Delaware's law spells the licence aesthetician.
