What the Delaware state specific part asks

Both outlines open with license regulations, marketing practices and the Insurance Commissioner (13 questions), then credit insurance and the guaranty association (5). Life adds standard policy provisions, annuities, nonforfeiture and group life (10); Accident and Health adds individual and group provisions, long-term care, Medicare supplement and AIDS-related testing (12). Insurance ethics, which cites chapters 17, 23 and 24, fills the rest. The outlines print the Title 18 section beside each topic.

An elected Commissioner

Delaware elects its Insurance Commissioner at a general election for a term of 4 years, and section 2304(6) bars an insurer from paying toward any candidate for that office.

  • Examination score reports are valid for 12 months from the date of examination (18 Del. C. § 1705).
  • A lapsed license: 6 months at double the unpaid renewal fee, then 6 more with a civil fine of $200 to $1,000 (§ 1707).
  • An unpaid death claim draws 10 percent additional interest from the 31st calendar day (§ 2914).

Questions and answers

How many questions are on the Delaware life and health insurance exam?

The candidate handbook lists, for the Life Producer exam, 50 scored general questions in 1 hour 15 minutes and 40 scored state questions in 1 hour. The Accident and Health Producer exam has 50 general and 42 state questions with the same timings.

What is the passing score for the Delaware insurance exam?

The handbook says raw scores are converted to a scale of 0 to 100, that the scaled score needed is 70 on some exams and 80 on others, and that the passing score is listed on the score report.

Does Delaware require prelicensing education for the insurance exam?

No. The handbook says the Delaware Department of Insurance sets no particular pre-licensing course and does not otherwise screen candidates beforehand. A score report stays valid for 12 months (18 Del. C. § 1705).

Are these the real Delaware insurance exam questions?

No. They are our own, written from Title 18 of the Delaware Code. This site has never seen the state exam, and the Department did not write or review them. Exam mode draws 40 questions in 60 minutes, the size of the Life state part.
