A Virginia insurance license practice test that follows the outline

The content outline of the Virginia Life, Annuities, and Health Insurance Examination prints a Code section beside each state topic, from licensing (38.2-1800) to the guaranty association (38.2-1715). The questions were written from those sections. Insurance Regulation alone is 14 of the 140 scored items.

Virginia insurance health law study guide

For the health exam, take four groups: agent licensing, accident and sickness provisions, unfair practices and privacy, and the guaranty association. Each answer links its section, so the bank doubles as a study guide to Virginia insurance and health law.

  • Three failed exams: a resident waits 30 calendar days. A passing grade is invalid if no license is obtained within 183 calendar days (38.2-1817).
  • A minor of at least fifteen may insure his own life, for himself or close family (38.2-3105).
  • Guaranty limits per life: $300,000 death benefit, $100,000 cash value, $250,000 annuity, $500,000 health benefit plan (38.2-1700).

Questions and answers

How many questions are on the Virginia life and health insurance exam?

The outline of the Life, Annuities, and Health examination (Series 11-01) lists 140 scored questions, 10 pretest questions and a 2.5-hour limit. The Life and Annuities exam and the Health exam each list 90 scored questions, 15 pretest questions and two hours.

What is the passing score for the Virginia insurance exam?

The Bureau of Insurance Licensing Information Bulletin, effective December 13, 2024, prints no pass mark. It says the score report shows the percentage answered correctly and whether you passed. This page gives a score and no pass or fail.

How many continuing education hours does a Virginia insurance agent need?

16 hours each biennium with a life and annuities license, a health agent license or both; 24 hours, at least eight in each category, with licenses in more than one category. Three hours are insurance ethics (Va. Code 38.2-1866).

Are these the real Virginia insurance exam questions?

No. They are our own, written from the Code of Virginia. This site has never seen the state exam, and the Bureau of Insurance did not write or review them. The 25 questions drawn in exam mode are a set size, not the exam's length.
