What the Rhode Island Specific part asks

Each state part has 30 scored questions. The outline gives 17 of them to law common to both lines (the commissioner, definitions, licensing, marketing practices, the guaranty association) and 13 to the line itself, and prints a section of the General Laws or a rule beside each topic.

Where Rhode Island differs

A misstatement voids a life policy only if it actually contributed to the loss, a question for the jury (§ 27-4-10). Death proceeds earn 9 percent interest from the date of death (§ 27-4-26), and resident producers must carry errors and omissions insurance (§ 27-2.4-23). Topics that rest on Department rules, such as replacement and annuity suitability, are not asked.

  • A life policy or annuity delivered today may be returned within at least 20 days of delivery (§ 27-4-6.1).
  • An expired license can be reinstated within 12 months at double the unpaid renewal fee (§ 27-2.4-9).
  • Infertility coverage applies to women aged 25 to 42, with a copayment of no more than 20 percent (§ 27-18-30).
