How this list was compiled: Questions, answer choices, keyed answers and the three figures are from the 2026-2030 Technician Class (Element 2) question pool, which the National Conference of Volunteer Examiner Coordinators (NCVEC) Question Pool Committee released into the public domain on December 18, 2025, with errata issued February 19, 2026. The file used is the corrected release, '2026-2030 Technician Pool and Syllabus Public Release Feb 19 2026', from https://www.ncvec.org/index.php/2026-2030-technician-question-pool (read 2026-09-26). The pool is valid for exams from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2030. The exam format (35 questions, 26 correct to pass) is 47 CFR 97.503(a), read at https://www.law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/47/97.503 on 2026-09-26. How it works

This unofficial ham radio practice test holds all 409 questions of the 2026-2030 Technician Class license pool, used for exams from July 1, 2026. Pick a subelement under Start from, or press Exam mode for 35 questions with 26 to pass.

What the real exam is

The Technician exam, Element 2, is 35 multiple-choice questions and you pass with 26 correct. A volunteer examiner team gives it. The real test takes one question from each of the pool's 35 groups; this practice exam draws 35 at random from the whole pool.

How the pool is laid out

Ten subelements, T1 to T0: rules (6 exam questions), operating (3), propagation (3), amateur radio practices (2), electrical principles (4), components (4), practical circuits (4), signals and emissions (4), antennas and feed lines (2) and safety (3). Rules questions carry their 47 CFR Part 97 section.

  • The pool changed on July 1, 2026. Study guides for the 2022-2026 pool no longer match every question.
  • Twelve questions use the pool's three circuit figures, T-1 to T-3. Learn the symbols; the exam booklet shows the same drawings.

Questions and answers

How many questions are on the ham radio Technician exam, and how many can you miss?

Thirty-five, and you can miss 9: 26 correct pass (47 CFR 97.503). All are in the public 2026-2030 Technician pool.

When did the Technician question pool change?

The 2026-2030 pool took effect on July 1, 2026 and is used until June 30, 2030. It was released on December 18, 2025, with four questions corrected on February 19, 2026.

Are these the real exam questions?

Yes. The pool is public, and the real exam draws its questions, choices and answers from it. This site is not affiliated with the FCC, the NCVEC or any volunteer examiner coordinator.
