How it works
Arizona sets 15 mph at a school crossing, makes passing it above 35 a crime, and allows a seat belt ticket only after a stop for something else. This unofficial Arizona permit practice test holds 251 free questions from the Arizona Revised Statutes, read on azleg.gov on 19 September 2026, plus 48 on federal road signs.

A public pass mark, an unpublished count
The Motor Vehicle Division of the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) gives the knowledge test. Its manuals page, checked 19 September 2026, says a score of 80 percent or higher passes and that exam questions are taken from the Arizona Driver License Manual, so treat that manual as your az permit test study guide. No ADOT page opened that day states a question count, so the 25 questions in Exam mode are this site's choice.
Rules found only in Arizona's code
Good az permit test practice reaches past the rules every state shares. Section 28-903 lets a motorcycle pass between lanes of stopped cars only where the limit is 45 mph or less, and at no more than 15 mph. Under section 28-857 a two-way left turn lane does not split a road, so you still stop for a school bus across it. Section 28-910 can bill up to $2,000 for a rescue from a barricaded, flooded road.
Press Exam mode under the question, then Start the exam. Marks come at the end. Press Missed to retry wrong answers until you get them right. Clear my progress, pressed twice, wipes all scores and saved questions on this device.
Section 28-3174's class G limits last six months: no driving from midnight to 5 a.m. without a parent or guardian beside you, and one passenger under 18 unless they are your siblings.
Arizona's alcohol ladder has four rungs: impaired to the slightest degree, 0.08, extreme DUI at 0.15, and any alcohol at all under 21.
Questions and answers
Does ADOT say how long the Arizona written test is?
No. Its manuals, teen requirements and fee pages, checked 19 September 2026, give an 80 percent pass mark and no question count. Exam mode here asks 25, so 20 right shows Passed.
Who can get an Arizona instruction permit?
Section 28-3154 sets the minimum age at 15 years 6 months and makes the permit good for 12 months. The supervisor must be licensed, at least 21, and seated beside you. ADOT's fee page, checked 19 September 2026, lists the permit at $7.
Are these the questions ADOT asks?
No. This site has never seen ADOT's exam. Each question was written from a section of the Arizona Revised Statutes and links to it on the Legislature's site. ADOT publishes its own practice tests too.
