The state tests from its manual; this bank is from the statutes

The Secretary of State's Notary Exam Notice, read on its website on October 13, 2026, says all new and renewing notaries must pass an examination from July 1, 2025, with questions drawn from its 2026 Notary Public Reference Manual. This bank was written from the statutes, A.R.S. 41-251 to 41-334, and not from the manual.

What Arizona adds to the uniform act

Article 1 is the Revised Uniform Law on Notarial Acts. Arizona adds a journal thumbprint for deeds and powers of attorney (41-254), a paper journal (41-319) and a stamp that carries the great seal (41-266). The Start from menu drills each part.

  • A $5,000 surety bond, an oath of office and a four-year term, all in A.R.S. 41-269.
  • Ten days to report a lost or stolen journal or stamp; thirty days for a new address or surname (41-323, 41-327).
  • The physical stamp is at most 1 1/2 by 2 1/2 inches and carries the great seal of Arizona (41-266).

Questions and answers

Is there an Arizona notary exam?

A.R.S. 41-270 lets the Secretary of State require one. Its Notary Exam Notice, read October 13, 2026, requires it of new and renewing notaries from July 1, 2025: 45 questions, 60 minutes, open book, 80% to pass.

Are these the real Arizona notary exam questions?

No. Nobody at this site has seen the state's examination, and the site is not affiliated with the Arizona Secretary of State. Every question was written from A.R.S. Title 41. No commissioned Arizona notary has reviewed the answers yet.

Is this AZ notary public practice exam free?

Yes. Every question and explanation here is free, with no sign-up. Exam mode draws 45 questions on a 60-minute clock and passes at 80%, the figures of the state's notice; the questions are this site's own.

Does an Arizona notary have to keep a journal?

Yes. A.R.S. 41-319 requires a paper journal for acts on tangible records, kept in chronological order, and a paper or electronic journal for electronic records. Deeds and powers of attorney also need the signer's right thumbprint in it (41-254).
