What the 5th grade OSTP math test covers

The state blueprint sets an ideal share of the 50 scored items for each of four strands, and this page keeps to it. Number and Operations is the largest: decimals to thousandths, fractions and mixed numbers, and division by one- and two-digit numbers. Geometry and Measurement covers triangles, solid figures and their nets, volume, perimeter and unit conversions. Algebraic Reasoning and Algebra covers rules, ordered pairs and expressions. Data and Probability covers mean, median, mode, range and graphs. Each answer names its objective in the Oklahoma Academic Standards, such as 5.N.2.2.

Questions and answers

Is there an OCCT practice test for 5th grade?

OCCT is the older name. Oklahoma's technical report for 2024-25 calls the OCCT the former assessment, and 5th graders now take the OSTP. The questions here practice the grade 5 objectives on the OSTP blueprint.

How many questions are on the Oklahoma 5th grade math test?

Sixty, in two sections: 50 operational items plus 10 field-test items. The field-test items do not touch the score, and every item is marked correct or incorrect.

How long is the OSTP 5th grade math test?

The specifications estimate about 40 minutes for each section and about 100 minutes with login and directions, and suggest 200 minutes at most. The sections fall on one day with a break, or on two school days in a row.

Can 5th graders use a calculator on the OSTP math test?

Not as a rule. The state's calculator policy allows one in grades 3 to 5 only as an approved accommodation on an IEP or 504 Plan, and then only a basic four-function calculator.

What is a passing score on the 5th grade OSTP math test?

No percent is published. The scaled score falls in one of four performance levels: Below Basic, Basic, Proficient or Advanced. A percent on this page is for practice only.
