Each question names the standard it practices; the fact behind it is in the disciplinary core idea, the clarification statement or the cluster clarifications that the specifications print with that standard. Two questions also rest on a NASA page named under the answer (Moon Phases, https://science.nasa.gov/moon/moon-phases/, and What Are Constellations?, https://spaceplace.nasa.gov/constellations/en/), read 2026-10-12. What the Oklahoma 5th grade science test covers

The blueprint reports three categories, and the questions here keep their shares. Earth and Space Sciences is the largest: why the Sun outshines other stars, patterns of shadows, the Moon and seasonal stars, Earth's four systems, where its water is, and how communities protect resources. Physical Sciences is all about matter: particles too small to see, weight that stays the same through a change, telling materials apart, and mixing substances. Life Sciences follows matter and energy through plants, animals and decomposers.

Two standards that sit where you may not expect

Gravity (5.PS2.1) is reported with Earth and Space Sciences, and the energy in food (5.PS3.1) with Life Sciences. The topics here are grouped the same way. Each answer names its standard.

  • This test says "weight" or "amount" where later grades say mass, and it measures matter in grams.
