What is on the 5th grade science EOG

Life science is 44 to 52 percent of the test: cells, tissues and organs, six body systems, ecosystems, food webs, instincts and inherited traits. Physical science is 30 to 37 percent: weight before and after a change, mixtures and new substances, heating and cooling, forces and speed. Earth science is 18 to 25 percent: weather data, hurricanes and tornadoes, the ocean's effect on North Carolina and the water cycle.

Where each answer comes from

Under every answer is the state objective the question practices and the public page its fact was read on: the National Cancer Institute for the body, NOAA for weather, coasts and food webs, NASA for forces.

  • In a food web question, follow the arrows: energy moves from the living thing that is eaten to the one that eats it.
  • Read the units in a data question before you add or subtract.

Questions and answers

How many questions are on the 5th grade science EOG?

A student sees 52 items. 44 of them are operational and count; 8 are field test items being tried out for later years. Each item is worth one point.

Is the 5th grade science EOG timed?

The limit is 180 minutes. North Carolina expects most students to finish in about 120 minutes, and a student with a documented accommodation may have more time.

Is there an EOG science 5th grade study guide?

The state's test specifications serve as one, free of charge: they name all sixteen objectives the test draws on. Work through one domain at a time, and reread the explanation of anything missed.

Is this the 5th grade science EOG practice test NC publishes?

No. This page is unofficial and its questions are our own. North Carolina publishes one released grade 5 science form on its EOG page, and the box under the questions links to that page.
