What the 7th grade math EOG tests

Five domains, weighted by the state's test specifications. Ratios and Proportional Relationships is 24 to 28 percent: unit rates with fractions, proportional tables and graphs, percent and scale problems. Statistics and Probability is 22 to 26 percent: sampling, variability and probability. Expressions and Equations is 20 to 24 percent: linear expressions, multi-step equations and inequalities. Geometry is 16 to 20 percent: scale drawings, circles, angles, area and volume. The Number System is 8 to 12 percent: operations with rational numbers.

Using it as an NC 7th grade math EOG study guide

Ratios plus statistics and probability are about half of the items: begin there. Each answer shows its steps and its standard, such as NC.7.RP.3 for percent problems. List the standards you miss and return to them the next day.

  • When you multiply or divide both sides of an inequality by a negative number, reverse the inequality sign.

Questions and answers

How many questions are on the 7th grade math EOG?

53 items in all. 45 are operational: 15 in the calculator inactive section and 30 in the calculator active section. The remaining 8 are field test items that do not count. Each item is worth one point.

What calculator is allowed on the 7th grade math EOG?

In the calculator active section, students in grades 6 to 8 are given a four-function calculator with square root, power and pi keys and algebraic logic. The online test has a scientific calculator built in.

How long is the 7th grade math EOG?

Three hours is the limit, and the state estimates that most students finish in about two. A student with a documented accommodation, such as scheduled extended time, may have longer.

Are these questions from a real 7th grade math EOG?

No. All 46 were written for this site, and none is a released item. North Carolina posts one released grade 7 mathematics form on its End-of-Grade page; the link is in the box under the questions.
