What the Oklahoma 7th grade math test covers

Of grades 3 to 8, only grade 7 has Geometry and Measurement as the largest strand of the state blueprint: surface area and volume of rectangular prisms, trapezoids, composite figures, circles, unit conversions, similar figures and transformations. Algebraic Reasoning and Algebra covers proportional relationships, percent problems, equations and one-step inequalities. Data and Probability covers mean, median, interquartile range, circle graphs, histograms, box plots and probability. Number and Operations covers rational numbers, absolute value and integers. The 50 questions here keep the blueprint's share for each strand.

Under each answer

The steps come first, then the objective, such as 7.GM.2.1, the code the Oklahoma Academic Standards give to the area of a trapezoid.

Questions and answers

How many questions are on the Oklahoma 7th grade math test?

Sixty, in two sections. Fifty are operational and make up the score, each marked right or wrong. The other ten are field-test items the state is trying out, and they do not count.

How long is the OSTP 7th grade math test?

The state's estimate for scheduling is about 40 minutes a section, and about 100 minutes once login and directions are added. Its suggested maximum is 200 minutes.

Can you use a calculator on the Oklahoma 7th grade math test?

Yes. The state's calculator policy allows grades 6 and 7 a basic four-function calculator with square root, +/− and percent keys. One is built into the online test, and a formula sheet is provided.

What is a passing score on the Oklahoma 7th grade math test?

The state sets no percent to pass. It reports a scaled score in one of four performance levels: Below Basic, Basic, Proficient or Advanced. A percent on this page is not a state score.
