What 7th grade math STAAR test practice covers in Texas

TEA's blueprint has 38 questions in four reporting categories. Computations and Algebraic Relationships is the largest, 14 to 16 questions: rational number operations, unit rates, percent change, y = mx + b, and two-step equations and inequalities. Geometry and Measurement has 11 to 13: similar shapes, scale drawings, circles, volume and composite area. Data Analysis and Personal Financial Literacy has 5 to 7: graphs, box plots, sales tax, budgets and interest. Probability and Numerical Representations has 4 to 6.

Readiness and supporting standards

Under each answer is the TEKS student expectation it practices, marked readiness or supporting as TEA marks it. Readiness standards carry about 55 to 70 percent of the points, so a missed readiness question is the one to redo first.

  • For percent change, divide the change by the original amount, never by the new one.

Questions and answers

Is there a STAAR grade 7 mathematics practice test 1?

TEA posts one full-length grade 7 math practice test, with its answer key, on its released test questions page. On this page, exam mode asks 38 of the 50 questions, the number on the blueprint.

Is there a math STAAR advanced seventh grade practice test?

TEA publishes one blueprint for grade 7 mathematics, and its highest performance level is Masters Grade Level. For harder practice, work the Computations and Algebraic Relationships questions: percent change, two-step inequalities and equations from tables.

How many questions are on the 7th grade math STAAR test?

38, worth 46 points: 30 one-point questions and 8 two-point questions that are not multiple choice. This page has 50 questions, all multiple choice.

Can you use a calculator on the 7th grade math STAAR?

No. TEA's calculator policy does not permit calculators on grades 3 to 7 mathematics. The exception is a student who meets the eligibility criteria to use one as an accommodation.

What is a passing score on the 7th grade math STAAR?

TEA reports four performance levels. Approaches Grade Level or higher counts as passing; Did Not Meet Grade Level does not. The levels are cut on a scale score, which a percent on this page cannot give.
