What the 6th grade Oklahoma math test covers
Oklahoma's blueprint gives four strands an ideal share of the 50 scored items, and the questions here stay inside each share. Number and Operations has 20: integers, percents, exponents, prime factors, ratios and unit rates, and multiplying and dividing fractions and decimals. Geometry and Measurement has 12: transformations, symmetry, area, angles and unit conversions. Algebraic Reasoning and Algebra has 11: the coordinate plane, rules and tables, equivalent expressions and one-step equations. Data and Probability has 7: mean, median and mode, and simple probability. Each answer names its objective, such as 6.N.3.2.
By the specifications, solved equations and inequalities stay at one step, and fractions keep to halves, thirds, fourths, fifths, sixths, eighths, tenths and twelfths.
Questions and answers
Is the OCCT still given in 6th grade?
No. Oklahoma's technical report for 2024-25 calls the OCCT the former assessment, with legacy reports for its 2015 and 2016 data. Sixth graders now take the OSTP, and this page follows its grade 6 mathematics blueprint.
How many questions are on the 6th grade OSTP math test?
Sixty, in two sections. Fifty are operational items that make up the scaled score, each marked right or wrong. The other ten are field-test items, and they do not count.
How long does the 6th grade Oklahoma math test take?
The state estimates about 40 minutes for each of the two sections, and about 100 minutes once login and directions are added. Its suggested maximum is 200 minutes.
Can you use a calculator on the 6th grade Oklahoma math test?
Yes. The state's calculator policy allows grades 6 and 7 a basic four-function calculator with square root, +/− and percent keys, and one is built into the online test. In grades 3 to 5 a calculator is an accommodation only.
What is a passing score on the 6th grade OSTP math test?
The state sets no percent to pass. It reports a scaled score and one of four performance levels: Below Basic, Basic, Proficient or Advanced.
