What a TCAP practice test for 5th grade math has to cover

The state blueprint sorts grade 5 into four reporting categories, and the questions here keep its shares. Geometric and Measurement Concepts is the largest: unit conversions, line plots, volume and the coordinate grid. Fractions comes next: adding and subtracting unlike fractions, multiplying, and dividing with unit fractions. Computation covers order of operations, multi-digit multiplication, long division and decimals. Number Relationships and Patterns covers place value, powers of ten, rounding and number patterns.

How each answer is checked

Under every answer are the steps and the grade 5 standard it practices, such as 5.NF.B.4. Wrong choices come from common slips, like adding the numerators and the denominators.

  • Subpart 1 of the real test allows no calculator. Work the computation and fraction questions by hand.
