What the North Carolina law questions cover

Nine groups: producer, adjuster and appraiser licensing, unfair practices, cancellation and nonrenewal, auto financial responsibility and the Reinsurance Facility, the Rate Bureau, the Beach and FAIR plans, the standard fire policy, the Insurance Guaranty Association and workers' compensation. Missed questions wait in their own pile.

Why a fire policy is in a law test

North Carolina writes its standard fire insurance policy into G.S. 58-44-16, so its notice days, appraisal steps and suit deadline are statute. No other policy form is asked. Each answer names its G.S. section and links to ncleg.gov.

  • Minimum auto liability limits: $50,000 for one person, $100,000 for two or more, $50,000 for property (G.S. 20-279.21).
  • Standard fire policy: proof of loss within 60 days, suit within three years after inception of the loss (G.S. 58-44-16).
  • Nonfleet private passenger auto: 15 days' notice for nonpayment, at least 60 days for another reason (G.S. 58-36-85).

Questions and answers

How many questions are on the NC property and casualty exam?

This page does not give that number. No statute read for this bank sets the exam's length, time limit or pass mark, and none was copied from the Department of Insurance. Exam mode draws 25 questions as a set size only.

What is on this NC property and casualty practice test?

North Carolina law only: licensing, unfair practices, cancellation, auto financial responsibility, the Rate Bureau, the Beach and FAIR plans, the standard fire policy, the guaranty association and workers' compensation. Homeowners and auto policy forms and general insurance theory are not asked.

What are North Carolina's minimum auto liability limits?

Under G.S. 20-279.21(b)(2), an owner's policy insures to $50,000 for bodily injury to or death of one person, $100,000 for two or more persons in one accident, and $50,000 for injury to or destruction of others' property.

How much notice must a North Carolina insurer give to cancel an auto policy?

For a nonfleet private passenger auto policy, G.S. 58-36-85(c) allows termination for nonpayment of premium 15 days from the date the notice is mailed. For any other reason the effective date must be at least 60 days after the notice is mailed.

Are these the real NC state exam questions?

No. Every question was written for this page from the General Statutes on ncleg.gov. The state exam belongs to the North Carolina Department of Insurance, which has not reviewed this page.
