North Dakota gives two exams, not one
Both State parts ask licensing, unfair practices, fraud reporting, cancellation, binders and the guaranty association. Property adds the valued policy and standard fire policy laws. Casualty adds auto cancellation, no-fault benefits, uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage and rental vehicles.
No-fault and valued policy law
The Auto Accident Reparations Act pays basic no-fault benefits without regard to fault and exempts a secured person from noneconomic damages unless the injury is serious. Real property wholly destroyed by a covered cause of loss is paid at the amount written in the policy.
Homeowner's cancellation takes 30 days' notice, 10 for nonpayment, and nonrenewal 45 days (N.D.C.C. 26.1-39-13, 26.1-39-16).
Auto cancellation takes 20 days' notice, 10 for nonpayment, and nonrenewal 30 days (N.D.C.C. 26.1-40-03, 26.1-40-05).
A serious injury means death, dismemberment, serious permanent disfigurement, disability beyond 60 days or medical expenses over $2,500 (N.D.C.C. 26.1-41-01).
