The state portion outline
The Candidate Information Bulletin dated October 1, 2025 gives the broker state portion 40 questions over four sections and prints no count for a section. The split here is ours: Commission 5, licensing 8, statutory requirements governing licensees 22, additional topics 5.
The broker-only topics
The outline marks four topics for brokers alone: branch offices and license display, trust accounts, record keeping and closing statements. They are asked from N.D.C.C. 43-23-14.1 and the rules on branch offices, trust accounts and closing statements.
Agency in North Dakota's words
A client has a written agency agreement with the firm; anyone else is a customer, owed honesty, customary acts and known adverse facts. Appointed agents let one firm serve both sides without dual agency.
Trust money is deposited within 24 hours of receipt unless the purchase contract says otherwise (N.D. Admin. Code 70-02-01-15).
A broker may keep up to $500 of personal funds in the trust account for service charges (N.D.C.C. 43-23-14.1).
A salesperson who changes brokers without notice to the Commission has the license canceled automatically (N.D.C.C. 43-23-12).
