Where the Vermont exam asks state law
The Series 14-31 outline gives Insurance Regulation 15 of its 150 questions and prints Vermont statutes under two more headings. Property and casualty basics lists the guaranty association, cancellation, renewal, consent to rate, loss payment and coinsurance. Auto insurance lists financial responsibility, the Automobile Insurance Plan, uninsured motorists and surcharges.
Law that is Vermont's own
When a fire policy on a building carries a coinsurance clause, the insured may ask for a valuation, set by appraisers if the parties disagree. Auto surcharges are tied to an experience period. Licensing and unfair trade practices are on the Vermont life and health page.
An auto surcharge needs an accident payment for death, for personal injury over $900 or for property damage over $1,000 (8 V.S.A. § 4672).
Uninsured motorist limits start at $50,000 for one person and $100,000 for two or more, with a $150 property damage deductible (23 V.S.A. § 941).
The guaranty association pays the part of a covered claim under $500,000; workers' compensation claims have no such limit (8 V.S.A. § 3615).
