  • Who reviews and approves entries a pharmacy technician makes to the audit trail in a New Jersey pharmacy? N.J.A.C. 13:39-7.6(b). Outline: NABP MPJE Competency Statements, Area 4, Pharmacy Operations.
  • Who signs and dates the biennial inventory of controlled dangerous substances at a New Jersey pharmacy? N.J.A.C. 13:39-6.2(g). Outline: NABP MPJE Competency Statements, Area 4, Pharmacy Operations.

How this list was compiled: Our own questions, written to the four areas of the MPJE Competency Statements that the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy publishes at https://nabp.pharmacy/programs/examinations/mpje/competency-statements/ (opened 2026-10-12): Area 1 Licensure/Personnel 22%, Area 2 Pharmacist Practice 33%, Area 3 Dispensing Requirements 24%, Area 4 Pharmacy Operations 21%. The 120 questions are 26, 40, 29 and 25. Every fact was read on 2026-10-12 in two texts: the New Jersey Pharmacy Practice Act, N.J.S.A. 45:14-40 to 45:14-80, in the statutes text the New Jersey Legislature publishes at https://pub.njleg.state.nj.us/statutes/ (file dated October 10, 2026); and the State Board of Pharmacy's rules, N.J.A.C. 13:39, subchapters 1 to 7, in the public copy of the New Jersey Administrative Code kept by the Legal Information Institute at https://www.law.cornell.edu/regulations/new-jersey/title-13/chapter-39, which is updated quarterly. The Board's own page points to the official code on a subscription site and to a public copy, and the official code is the final word. Each question names its section. Licence: Questions, choices and explanations are original work of this site, written from the public text of the New Jersey statute and rules. Nothing is taken from the MPJE, the Pre-MPJE, NABP's sample items, a prep company or a review book.

How it works

An unofficial NJ MPJE practice test: 120 questions on New Jersey pharmacy law. NABP, the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy, owns the exam, and neither NABP nor the New Jersey State Board of Pharmacy is affiliated with this page.

MPJE New Jersey study guide: statute and rules

The statute questions come from the New Jersey Pharmacy Practice Act, N.J.S.A. 45:14-40 to 45:14-80, in the Legislature's own text. The rule questions come from N.J.A.C. 13:39, read October 12, 2026 in the public copy at law.cornell.edu; the official code is the final word.

A New Jersey pharmacy law study guide has two halves

This page is the State half, cut to the four areas of NABP's MPJE Competency Statements. The federal half is on the federal pharmacy law page. Practice for an exam, not medical advice.

  • A New Jersey practitioner's paper prescription must be on a New Jersey Prescription Blank (N.J.S.A. 45:14-57).
  • Prescription records are kept five years, the latest year retrievable within one business day (N.J.A.C. 13:39-7.6).
  • One pharmacist supervises two technicians unless the pharmacy meets the higher-ratio conditions (N.J.S.A. 45:14-80).

Questions and answers

How many questions is the NJ MPJE?

NABP's test day page says 120 computer-based questions in 2.5 hours, chosen adaptively and reported as pass or fail. A timed run here matches the length and the clock.

What is a passing score on the NJ MPJE?

N.J.A.C. 13:39-2.2 asks a passing score of not less than 75 and keeps a passing result valid for five years. A percent on this page is not that score.

Is there a free NJ MPJE study guide?

The statute is free on the Legislature's site, and the Board's page links a public copy of N.J.A.C. 13:39. This page turns the two into practice, and every answer names the section to read.

Does New Jersey use the Uniform MPJE?

New Jersey was not among the Uniform MPJE jurisdictions NABP listed on October 12, 2026, and N.J.A.C. 13:39-2.1 still requires the NAPLEX and the MPJE for initial licensure.

Is this the real NJ MPJE?

No. The questions are our own, drawn from the public text of the Act and the Board's rules, never from the MPJE, the Pre-MPJE or NABP's sample items. No New Jersey agency has reviewed this page.
