How this list was compiled: Our own questions, written to the four areas of the MPJE Competency Statements that the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy publishes at https://nabp.pharmacy/programs/examinations/mpje/competency-statements/ (opened 2026-10-14): Area 1 Licensure/Personnel 22%, Area 2 Pharmacist Practice 33%, Area 3 Dispensing Requirements 24%, Area 4 Pharmacy Operations 21%. The 60 questions are 13, 20, 14 and 13. Every fact was read on 2026-10-14 in two public texts: the Health Occupations Article, Title 12 (Pharmacists and Pharmacies), section by section on the Maryland General Assembly's site (mgaleg.maryland.gov, Laws, Statute Text), and the State Board of Pharmacy's regulations, Code of Maryland Regulations Title 10, Subtitle 34, chapters 02, 04, 05, 06, 14, 18, 20, 24, 25, 26 and 38, in the Library of Maryland Regulations (regs.maryland.gov). Each question names its section or regulation. Licence: Questions, choices and explanations are original work of this site, written from the public text of the Maryland statute and regulations. Nothing is taken from the MPJE, the Pre-MPJE, NABP's sample items, a prep company or a review book.

How it works

A Maryland pharmacy law study guide in question form

Every question was written from two public texts read October 14, 2026: Title 12 of the Health Occupations Article on the General Assembly's site, and the Board's regulations, COMAR 10.34, in the Library of Maryland Regulations. The split across four areas follows NABP's published MPJE Competency Statements.

The Maryland MPJE or the Uniform MPJE

Since June 1, 2026 the Maryland Board of Pharmacy lets an applicant choose the state MPJE or the Uniform MPJE with a Maryland-specific module, by the notice on its site. Either route examines Maryland's own law. Federal questions sit on the federal pharmacy law page, and Maryland's controlled dangerous substances law is not covered here. Practice for an exam, not medical advice.

  • A prescription presented more than 120 days after its date is not dispensed unless the prescriber instructs otherwise (§ 12-503).
  • Unauthorized refill: one refill, a 14-day supply, never a controlled dangerous substance, prescriber told within 72 hours (§ 12-506).
  • Closing a pharmacy for more than 7 consecutive days takes 14 days' notice; selling its operations takes 30.

Questions and answers

How many questions are on the Maryland MPJE?

120 computer-based questions in 2.5 hours, delivered adaptively, by NABP's test day page. The timed run here is half that length at the same pace: 60 questions in 75 minutes.

What is the passing score for the Maryland MPJE?

COMAR 10.34.02.03 gives 75 as the passing score for the Maryland MPJE. NABP reports the exam as pass or fail, so this page shows a percent and no verdict.

Is the Maryland MPJE being replaced by the Uniform MPJE?

NABP's participating states page, opened October 14, 2026, lists Maryland with a Uniform MPJE start of June 1, 2026 and an MPJE retirement date of May 31, 2027. Until then the Board accepts either, with a Maryland module after the Uniform MPJE.

Does the Maryland Board of Pharmacy publish an MPJE study guide?

The Board's site points Uniform MPJE candidates to NABP's content outline. The law itself is free to read: Title 12 at mgaleg.maryland.gov and COMAR 10.34 at regs.maryland.gov. This page turns both into questions.

Are these real Maryland MPJE questions?

No. All 60 were written for this site from the public text of the Maryland statute and regulations. None is taken from the MPJE, the Pre-MPJE or NABP's sample items, and no Maryland agency has reviewed them.
