How it works
This unofficial New Mexico state pharmacy law study guide is 60 practice questions on Board of Pharmacy rules. It is not affiliated with the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP), which owns the MPJE, or the New Mexico board.

A New Mexico MPJE study guide in question form
Every question was written from the Board's rules, Title 16, Chapter 19 of the New Mexico Administrative Code, read October 14, 2026 on the State Records Center and Archives site: Parts 2 to 6, 20, 22, 26 and 29. The split across four areas follows NABP's published MPJE Competency Statements. Rule 16.19.2.8 NMAC asks applicants for licensure by examination to pass the MPJE.
Board rules only
Practice for an exam, not medical advice. The statutes behind the rules (the Pharmacy Act, the Drug, Device and Cosmetic Act and the Controlled Substances Act) were not read for this bank, and federal questions sit on the federal pharmacy law page. New Mexico was not among the Uniform MPJE jurisdictions NABP listed on October 14, 2026.
- Controlled substance refills: not before 75 percent of the days' supply when dispensed directly; 66 percent of a 90 day mail order supply (16.19.20.45 NMAC).
- The annual controlled substance inventory is May 1, within four days either side; a new pharmacist-in-charge inventories within 72 hours (16.19.20.20 NMAC).
- PMP: report each fill within one business day, and review reports at least every three months during continuous opioid use.
Questions and answers
How many questions are on the New Mexico MPJE?
120 computer-based questions in 2.5 hours, delivered adaptively, by NABP's test day page. The timed run here is half that length at the same pace: 60 questions in 75 minutes.
What score do you need to pass the MPJE in New Mexico?
Rule 16.19.2.8 NMAC names no number: candidates must achieve a score of passing as set by NABP. NABP reports the result as pass or fail, so this page shows a percent and no verdict.
How many times can you take the MPJE in New Mexico?
Rule 16.19.2.9 NMAC: no more than four consecutive times without passing, within three years of the first attempt, with at least 30 days between attempts. An unfinished examination counts as an attempt.
Is there a free New Mexico pharmacy law study guide?
The law itself is free. The State Records Center and Archives posts every part of 16.19 NMAC, the Board of Pharmacy rules. This page turns nine of those parts into questions, each naming the section to reread.
Are these real New Mexico MPJE questions?
No. All 60 were written for this site from the public text of the New Mexico Administrative Code. None is taken from the MPJE, the Pre-MPJE or NABP's sample items, and no New Mexico agency has reviewed them.
