The chapter text was read on 2026-10-09 in the Legislature's own copy at https://tcss.legis.texas.gov/resources/PW/htm/, which supplies the pages shown on statutes.capitol.texas.gov; each question names its section and links to it. The course facts in the topic "The course and the final exam" (who must be certified, the minimum age of 9, the 75 percent minimum score, the deferral, the course types) are the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's own, read the same day on its Hunter Education page, https://tpwd.texas.gov/education/hunter-education, and its Hunter Education FAQ, https://tpwd.texas.gov/education/hunter-education/faq, which are the published outline this page follows. The department publishes no number of questions for the final exam, so none is given here. The department's rules in the Texas Administrative Code were not read and nothing is asked from them. Licence: Own work. Questions, answer choices and explanations were written for this site from the text of the Texas statutes and the facts on the department's public pages; nothing is copied from a hunter education manual, an online course, a chapter review or an examination.
How it works

Section 62.004 closes hunting from one-half hour after sunset to one-half hour before sunrise. Section 61.022 requires the landowner's consent, and section 62.0031 bars hunting from a public road or right-of-way. A deer tag goes on immediately, with the month and date of the kill cut out.
Under 17 and not certified: hunt accompanied by a licensed, certified or exempt hunter 17 or older who stays within normal voice control.
A Hunter Education Deferral costs $10, is sold to hunters 17 or older, and may be obtained only once.
