The three chapter pages were read on 2026-10-12; each question names its section and links to its chapter. The course facts in the topic "The course and its test" (the eight-hour instructor-led class, its test, the age the course is recommended from, the temporary certificate, the certifications accepted) are the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources' own, read the same day on its Hunter Education page, https://www.dnr.sc.gov/education/hunted.html, which is the published outline this page follows. That page gives no number of questions and no pass mark for the class test, so none is given here. The department's regulations in Chapter 123 of the Code of Regulations were not read and nothing is asked from them. Licence: Own work. Questions, answer choices and explanations were written for this site from the text of the South Carolina Code of Laws and the facts on the department's public page; nothing is copied from a hunter education manual, a study guide, an online course, a chapter review or an examination.

What the course is

The department's instructor-led class is free, runs eight hours in one day or over two evenings, and ends with a test. It also approves an online course from an outside provider.

  • No certificate yet: an apprentice license lets a person 16 or older hunt beside a licensed hunter who is 21 or older.
  • Eighteen points bring a one-year suspension, and finishing hunter education takes four points off.
