Unofficial practice for South Carolina's SC READY tests: one set for grades 3 to 5, one for grades 6 to 8. No question comes from a real test. Not affiliated with the South Carolina Department of Education.
Read the full guide
What is in each set
Each set has 20 math questions and 20 English language arts questions, youngest grade first. Math is spread over the four reporting categories of the state's blueprint. English language arts covers reading, vocabulary, writing and research. Every reading question prints its own short text, because the real test's long passages cannot be copied.
How the answers are checked
Each question names the South Carolina indicator it practices and its reporting category. Math answers are worked out again from the numbers in the question. Reading answers rest on the text printed with the question, and word meanings on a named dictionary entry.
Questions and answers
Is this SC READY practice test free?
Yes. Both sets are free with no sign-up, and your answers stay in this browser. The questions were written for this site from the state's blueprints, and none is taken from an SC READY test.
Is there an official SC READY online practice test?
The state's page describes Online Tools Training, a module on the DRC INSIGHT Portal that simulates the testing environment so students can try the test's tools. It says no account is needed. This page is separate and unofficial.
Which grades and subjects does SC READY test?
Grades 3 to 8 take English language arts and math. The state's format table, updated August 2026, lists science for grades 4 and 6. This page practices math and English language arts only.
Is the SC READY test timed?
No. The state says the tests are not timed. It gives times for scheduling only, such as about 105 minutes for math in grades 3 to 5 and 80 minutes in grades 6 to 8.
