How it works
Unofficial practice for Indiana's ILEARN in mathematics and English language arts, in two grade bands. No question is a released item. Not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the Indiana Department of Education.
Read the full guide
What is in each band
Math takes a little more than half of each set and follows the reporting categories of the state's blueprint: number sense, computation and algebra, then geometry, measurement and data. English language arts covers reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar and conventions, with reading foundations in the lower band.
What is not here
ILEARN's writing task and its open-ended, hand-scored questions cannot be marked by a quiz, and science and social studies are left out. The state's released items, linked under the questions, show those.
Questions and answers
Where is the IDOE ILEARN practice test?
The Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) keeps its released ILEARN items in the Released Items Repository on the state's assessment portal, linked under the questions. This page is separate: unofficial questions written for practice online.
What grades take ILEARN?
Grades 3 to 8 take English language arts and mathematics. Grades 4 and 6 add science, and grade 5 adds social studies. High school has Biology and U.S. Government end-of-course tests.
What are ILEARN Checkpoints?
Three shorter tests in mathematics and English language arts, given during the school year, each on part of the standards. A summative test on all of them follows in the April to May window.
How many questions are on ILEARN?
The summative blueprints list 30 to 35 operational items for English language arts, and for mathematics 30 to 35 in grades 3 to 5 and 32 to 37 in grades 6 to 8. Each Checkpoint has 20 to 25.
