How this list was compiled: Written from the National Archives transcriptions of the Constitution of the United States, https://www.archives.gov/founding-docs/constitution-transcript, the Bill of Rights, https://www.archives.gov/founding-docs/bill-of-rights-transcript, and Amendments 11 to 27, https://www.archives.gov/founding-docs/amendments-11-27. All three fetched and checked 2026-09-19. Licence: Own work. Questions, answer choices and explanations were written for this site from the public texts named in the source line; nothing is copied from a school's test or from another practice test. Short quotations from the texts are marked with quotation marks.

How it works

This unofficial US Constitution practice test holds 169 questions written from the National Archives text: the Preamble, the seven articles and all 27 amendments. Each answer names its article and section. Checked 19 September 2026.

The numbers the text fixes

Most constitution exam questions turn on a number. Ages are 25, 30 and 35 for the House, the Senate and the President. Two thirds overrides a veto, convicts on impeachment, approves a treaty and proposes an amendment. Three fourths of the States ratify one.

Seven parts and a 50-question round

Start from splits the text into Congress (35 questions), its powers and limits (24), the President (23), the courts (11), the states and amending (19), the Bill of Rights (24) and the later amendments (33). Pick the Bill of Rights alone for a 24-question bill of rights practice quiz. Exam mode draws a constitution test of 50 questions from all seven.

  • Watch who acts. The House impeaches and the Senate tries. The President nominates and the Senate consents. Congress declares war and the President commands.
  • Before a bill of rights exam, place each clause: grand jury and double jeopardy in the Fifth, counsel and confrontation in the Sixth.

Questions and answers

Which exam is this for?

No single one. No body sets one test of the Constitution, and this page copies no school's, college's or state's paper. Use it as a US Constitution exam practice test for any course that asks what the document says.

Does it show the answers?

Yes. It is a U.S. Constitution test with answers: once you pick, the right choice shows with a short reason and the article and section to read. Nothing is marked before you answer.

Can I print it?

Yes. After a round, Print on the score card lists the questions you played; add more and it prints as a US Constitution practice exam on paper, with a bubble answer sheet. A tick on With answer key adds the reasons. Pick a part under Start from first and the paper keeps to it.

How is this different from the citizenship test?

The citizenship civics test on this site is the fixed USCIS list: history, geography, symbols and office holders. This United States Constitution practice test asks only questions about the Constitution's own text: who holds a power, what vote it takes, what age an office requires.

Where do the questions come from?

These sample United States Constitution questions were written from the National Archives transcriptions of the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and Amendments 11 to 27. No teacher has reviewed the answers yet. If an answer disagrees with the cited section, the section wins.
