What is on this page

Three grade bands, with one topic for each test. High school holds Algebra I, geometry, biology, American history and American government. The questions follow the state's blueprint for each test and run in grade order, easiest first.

English language arts

English language arts is tested in every grade from 3 to 8 and again in high school, and it is not on this page: its questions are asked about reading passages. The state's own practice tests, linked under the questions, include it.

Questions and answers

Is this the Ohio AIR practice test?

It is unofficial practice for the same tests. AIR stands for American Institutes for Research, the testing company; its testing division became Cambium Assessment in 2020. The tests are named Ohio's State Tests, or OST for short.

Where are the ODE practice tests for students and parents?

ODE, now the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, keeps its student practice resources on the Ohio's State Tests portal: practice tests, sample items and released questions. The button under the questions opens it. This page is separate and unofficial.

Can I print an Ohio State Test practice test as a PDF?

Yes. After a set, Print opens the questions you just answered as a sheet you can add to or trim, with an answer key if you tick it. To keep a PDF, choose Save as PDF in the print window.

Are these real Ohio AIR test practice questions?

No. Every question was written for this site from Ohio's Learning Standards and public documents, and none is a released item. Each explanation names the standard or the document to check it against.
