How it works

Unofficial practice for Oregon's state assessments, the Oregon Statewide Assessment System (OSAS): math for grades 3 to 8 and science for grades 5 and 8. The questions are our own. Not affiliated with the Oregon Department of Education.

Read the full guide

What is on this page

Two grade bands. Each grade has ten math questions in the shares of Oregon's blueprint: six on Claim 1, Concepts and Procedures, two on problem solving and modeling, and two on Communicating Reasoning. Grades 5 and 8 add ten science questions. Each answer names the claim and target, such as 4.NF.A, or the science standard it practices.

English language arts

Oregon also tests English language arts in grades 3 to 8, and it is not on this page: its questions are asked about reading passages. The state's own sample tests, linked under the questions, include it.

  • A missed Claim 3 question is about the reasoning, not the arithmetic: say why the wrong choice sounds right before reading the explanation.

Questions and answers

Is there Oregon state test practice for third grade?

Yes: the Grades 3 to 5 band holds ten grade 3 math questions. Third graders take the state tests in math and English language arts only; Oregon gives no science test until grade 5.

What is on the OSAS 4th grade practice test?

Ten grade 4 math questions: multiplication comparisons, rounding, equivalent fractions, decimals, factors, unit conversion, and four on problem solving and reasoning.

How many questions are on the OSAS math test?
