What the grade 4 blueprint counts
Three targets supply 8 or 9 of the Concepts and Procedures items: problems with the four operations, multi-digit arithmetic and equivalent fractions. The 48 questions keep those shares: 24 on concepts, 12 on problem solving and modeling, 12 on reasoning.
How the real test differs
It is taken on a computer and adjusts its questions to the student. It adds a performance task of 4 to 6 items, some of them scored by hand. Here every question is multiple choice, and the working follows each answer.
- On a reasoning question, decide whether the claim is true before you read the choices.
Questions and answers
Is there a printable 4th grade SBAC practice test?
Yes, this one. It prints as a paper test with its answer key, and the print window can save it as a PDF. The consortium's own grade 4 practice test is taken online, in its testing software.
What math is on the 4th grade Smarter Balanced test?
The grade 4 targets: the four operations with whole numbers, multi-digit arithmetic, equivalent fractions, adding and multiplying fractions, decimals to hundredths, measurement, angles, factors, patterns, data and shapes.
Can 4th graders use a calculator on the SBAC math test?
No. The consortium's calculator rules allow none on the grades 3 to 5 mathematics tests.
How long is the 4th grade SBAC math test?
It is untimed. The consortium estimates 2 hours 30 minutes for mathematics in grades 3 to 5: 1 hour 30 minutes for the adaptive part and 1 hour for the performance task.
What is a passing SBAC math score in 4th grade?
No pass mark is published. Scores fall in four achievement levels, and in grade 4 mathematics Level 3 runs from 2485 to 2548. A percent right on this page is not a scaled score.
