How it works
Unofficial fourth grade math practice built on the published PARCC test design: one question for each point of its short-form blueprint, all written for this page. Not affiliated with New Meridian, CCSSO or any state that has given PARCC tests.

What the PARCC blueprint weighs
The short-form blueprint gives grade 4 mathematics 52 points in four parts. Major content, 21: multi-digit arithmetic, fractions, decimals and word problems. Additional and supporting content, 9: factors, patterns, measurement, angles and shapes. Reasoning, 10: explaining a method or finding the flaw in one. Modeling, 12: problems of three steps or more.
Is the PARCC test still given?
Not under that name in the places checked for this page. The District of Columbia gave PARCC tests from 2015 to 2023 and now gives DC CAPE. New Jersey began them in 2014-15 and now gives the NJSLA. New Meridian still publishes the test design that this page follows.
- Every unit of the real grade 4 test is non-calculator, so put the calculator away before you start.
- The evidence tables keep fraction denominators to 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 100. Practice renaming among those.
Questions and answers
How many questions are on the 4th grade PARCC math test?
The full-form blueprint lists 40 scored tasks: 33 Type I, 4 Type II and 3 Type III. The short form lists 31: 25, 3 and 3. Both add field-test items that do not count.
How long is the PARCC math test in 4th grade?
The full form has four units of 60 minutes each, and the short form has three. The District of Columbia moved to the shorter blueprints in the 2020-21 school year.
What is a good PARCC math score in 4th grade?
Scores run from 650 to 850 in five performance levels. For grade 4 mathematics the District of Columbia's state education office prints Level 4 as 750 to 795 and Level 5 as 796 to 850. A percent right here is not a scaled score.
Is this the official PARCC practice test for 4th grade math?
No. It is unofficial: each question was written for this site from a published evidence statement, named under its answer, and none is a released or practice item. The box under the questions links to the published test design.
