How it works
Fourth grade math practice for the Florida test many still call the FSA. The state now gives FAST, so these questions follow the grade 4 FAST blueprint. All are our own. Unofficial, not affiliated with the Florida Department of Education.

What the grade 4 test covers
The blueprint weights its three reporting categories equally, so each has 15 questions here. Whole numbers: place value to 1,000,000, multiplying, dividing, factors and patterns. Fractions and decimals: equivalent fractions, sums and differences with like denominators, tenths, hundredths and money. The third joins angles, perimeter and area with unit conversions and data.
How the answers are checked
Each question practices one grade 4 benchmark of Florida's B.E.S.T. Standards for Mathematics, named under the answer. Every calculation is worked out again from the numbers in the question. Fractions stay in the form the benchmarks ask for and are not reduced.
- Work every question on paper. Grades 3 to 5 may not use a calculator on FAST mathematics.
- When two fractions have the same denominator, add or subtract only the numerators.
Questions and answers
Is the FSA still given in 4th grade?
No. Legislation signed in March 2022 ended the grade-level FSA in math and English language arts. Fourth graders now take FAST, the Florida Assessment of Student Thinking, three times a year.
How many questions are on the 4th grade FAST math test?
The test design summary gives 35 to 40 items for grade 4 mathematics. On the end-of-year test, about 4 or 5 of them are field-test items that do not count toward the score.
How long is the 4th grade FAST math test?
Up to 80 minutes for the first two tests of the year and up to 100 minutes for the third. A student still working at the end may be given until the close of the school day.
What is a passing score on 4th grade FAST math?
Grade 4 math scores run from 155 to 273 in five levels, and Level 3, called On Grade Level, starts at 211. The percent you get right here is not a scale score, so it cannot tell you a level.
