How it works

Unofficial grade 7 math practice for the Florida test many still call the FSA. Seventh graders now take FAST, and these 48 questions follow its four reporting categories. The questions are our own; this site is not affiliated with the Florida Department of Education.

What the grade 7 test covers

The FAST blueprint gives its four reporting categories nearly equal weight, and the 48 questions keep its shares. Number sense, operations and algebraic reasoning: exponents, rational numbers, equivalent expressions, equations and inequalities. Proportional reasoning: percent problems, unit conversions and the constant of proportionality. Geometric reasoning: trapezoids, circles, scale drawings and cylinders. Data analysis and probability: outliers, samples, circle graphs and simple experiments.

FSA or FAST?

FAST, the Florida Assessment of Student Thinking, was first given in the 2022-23 school year. It is taken three times a year, and the third test gives the end-of-year score. Under each answer here is its benchmark in Florida's B.E.S.T. Standards.

  • Grades 7 and 8 get an online scientific calculator on FAST, so practice with a scientific calculator at hand.
  • Circle and cylinder answers come in terms of π or with 3.14. Read which one the question asks for.

Questions and answers

Is the FSA still given in 7th grade?

No. A law approved in March 2022 made the end-of-year progress monitoring test Florida's statewide standardized mathematics test.

How many questions are on the 7th grade FAST math test?

The test design summary gives 36 to 40 items for grades 6 to 8. On the spring test, about 4 or 5 of those are field-test items left out of the score.

How long is the 7th grade FAST math test?

One session of up to 100 minutes for the first two tests of the year and up to 120 minutes for the third. Students still working when time is up may continue until the school day ends.

What is a passing score on 7th grade FAST math?

Grade 7 mathematics is scored from 175 to 288 in five achievement levels. Level 3, On Grade Level, runs from 235 to 246. A percent right on this page is not a scale score.

Is the grade 7 FSA practice test different in Miami-Dade?

No. FAST is a statewide test with one grade 7 mathematics blueprint, so practice by reporting category fits a student in Miami-Dade or any other Florida district.
