What the 4th grade math MCA covers

The state's test specifications sort grade 4 into four strands, and the 42 questions here keep their shares. Number & Operation is the largest: multiplication and division facts, multi-digit multiplying, equivalent fractions, adding fractions with like denominators, and decimals to thousandths. Algebra is input-output rules and number sentences with an unknown. Geometry & Measurement is triangles, quadrilaterals, angles, area, and slides, flips and turns. Data Analysis is tables, bar graphs, timelines and Venn diagrams.

Checking your work

Each answer shows its steps and names its benchmark, such as 4.1.2.3, as the test specifications print it. Minnesota's manual gives spring 2027 as the last test on these 2007 standards.

  • Fractions and decimals, standard 4.1.2, fill 10 to 12 of the 42 scored questions, more than any other standard.
