What the grade 5 NJSLA math test covers

New Jersey's blueprint sorts the test into four reporting categories, and the questions here stay inside its range for each. Number and Operations in Base Ten is place value, powers of 10, rounding, and multiplying and dividing whole numbers and decimals. Fractions is adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing them. Operations and Algebraic Thinking & Measurement is expressions, patterns, unit conversions and volume. Geometry and Data Literacy is the coordinate plane, classifying shapes, line plots and graphs.

Standards and checks

Under each answer is its New Jersey standard, such as 5.NF.B.4, and the steps. Every answer was worked out again from the numbers in the question.

  • Base ten and fractions are the two largest categories, 11 to 14 items each. Start there.

Questions and answers

How many questions are on the NJSLA math test in grade 5?
