What is on this page
Two sets: grades 3 to 5 and middle school. Each math grade has 10 to 15 questions spread over the domains in the shares of the KAP blueprint, so grade 3 leans on measurement and data, and grades 4 and 5 lean on fractions. Science has ten questions each for grades 5 and 8. Each answer names its Kansas standard.
Where Kansas differs
The questions follow the 2017 Kansas Mathematics Standards, which set some topics in their own grades: the volume of prisms and cylinders in grade 7, cones in grade 8, and systems of equations in high school. English language arts needs reading passages and is not here.
Kansas allows no calculator on the grade 3, 4 and 5 math tests, so work those questions by hand.
Questions and answers
Is there a Kansas state assessment practice test for 4th grade?
Yes. The Grades 3 to 5 set holds ten grade 4 math questions, four of them on fractions, the largest share of the grade 4 blueprint. Kansas gives no state science test in grade 4.
Is there a Kansas state test practice test for middle school?
Yes. The Middle school set has math for grades 6, 7 and 8, each in its own blueprint shares, and ten grade 8 science questions. Sixth and seventh graders take no state science test.
Is there a Kansas state assessment science practice test?
Yes, for grades 5 and 8, split among physical science, life science, and Earth and space science as the KAP science blueprint weighs them. Kansas also tests science in grade 11, which is not on this page.
How long is the Kansas state assessment?
The test manual says each subject has between 40 and 50 questions in two sessions, and most students finish within two class sessions of 45 minutes. The tests are untimed.
What is a good score on the Kansas state assessment?
Scores run from 400 to 700 in four performance levels. On every KAP test, Level 2 begins at 510 and Level 3 at 540. Students in Levels 3 and 4 have reached the expectations for the grade.
