What is on this page
Math has four questions for each grade from 3 to 8, easiest grade first. English language arts has reading questions on two short passages, then vocabulary and writing, all on the standards for grades 3 to 5. Science has a grade 5 set and a grade 8 set of eight questions each.
How the real tests differ
The real English test uses longer passages and asks for written essays, which a quiz cannot mark. The real math and science tests have questions where you type, drag or write an answer. Here every question has four choices, and its explanation names the Colorado standard it practices.
Questions and answers
Is there a CMAS practice test from 2019?
Colorado's own practice resources use released CMAS questions; the button under the questions opens them. This page is newer: its questions were written for this site in 2026 on the current frameworks, and none comes from a past test.
What grades take CMAS?
Grades 3 to 8 take math and English language arts. Grades 5, 8 and 11 take science, and grade 7 takes social studies. Each student takes the test for the enrolled grade.
What is a passing score on CMAS?
The state sets performance levels, not a pass mark. Scale scores run from 650 to 850 and Met Expectations starts at 750; Met and Exceeded Expectations count as on track for college and career.
What does CMAS stand for?
Colorado Measures of Academic Success. The tests follow the Colorado Academic Standards and measure grade-level expectations in English language arts, math, science and social studies.
Can I print a CMAS practice test?
Yes. Print turns the set on screen into a question sheet with a line for name, date and score, and an answer key if you want one. Choose Save as PDF in the print window to keep a file.
