How this list was compiled: Written from Title 23A of the Utah Code (the Wildlife Resources Act) as published by the Utah Legislature at https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title23A/23A.html, read on 2026-10-09 in the Legislature's current file of the title: sections 23A-1-101, 23A-1-102, 23A-4-201, 23A-4-701, 23A-4-706, 23A-4-708, 23A-4-709, 23A-4-710, 23A-4-1001, 23A-4-1002, 23A-4-1003, 23A-4-1104, 23A-4-1110, 23A-5-307, 23A-5-314, 23A-5-315, 23A-5-317, 23A-5-320, 23A-5-321, 23A-11-203, 23A-11-205 and 23A-11-206. Each question names its section and links to it. The course facts in the topic "The course" (the two course options, the field day, the final written test and live-fire exercise, the registration certificate, the blue card) are the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources' own, read the same day on its Hunter Education page, https://wildlife.utah.gov/huntereducation, which is the published outline this page follows. The division publishes no number of questions and no pass mark for the written test, so none is given here. The Wildlife Board's rules in the Utah Administrative Code and its guidebooks were not read and nothing is asked from them. Licence: Own work. Questions, answer choices and explanations were written for this site from the text of the Utah Code and the facts on the division's public page; nothing is copied from a hunter education manual, a study guide, an online course, a chapter review or an examination.
How it works
Unofficial practice for the written test in Utah hunter education: our own questions from Title 23A of the Utah Code, each with its section. Firearm safety, wildlife identification and the live-fire exercise belong to the course.

A tag goes on before the carcass is moved or the hunter leaves the site of kill. Big game hunters wear at least one item that is primarily hunter orange. Cultivated or properly posted private land needs signed permission. Hunters under 16 are accompanied on big game hunts.
What the written test is
The Division of Wildlife Resources requires a final written test and a shooting exercise with live fire, at a field day or in an instructor-led class.
Not certified yet: a trial hunting authorization lets a hunter 12 or older hunt beside a licensed, certified adult 21 or older.
Verbal communication with a young hunter means plain speech; a phone or two-way radio does not count.

The Division of Wildlife Resources gives no question count and no pass mark for the final written test. Exam mode here draws 25 questions, a length this site chose, and reports a score with no verdict.
What is a blue card in Utah?
It is the common name for the certificate of completion card the division issues once every part of the course is done, including the field day for online students. With it a hunter can apply for a hunting or combination license.
Is this the official Utah hunter education test?
No. This page is unofficial and not affiliated with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources. Registration certificates, field days and blue cards come only from the division.
