How this list was compiled: Written from Title 29 of the Oklahoma Statutes (the Oklahoma Wildlife Conservation Code) as published by the Oklahoma Legislature at https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os29.pdf, read on 2026-10-09: sections 2-102, 2-104, 2-111, 2-114, 2-117, 2-118, 2-132, 2-133.1, 2-138, 2-145, 2-146, 4-101, 4-112A, 5-201, 5-202, 5-203.1, 5-203.2, 5-204, 5-205, 5-207, 5-212, 5-213, 5-406, 5-407, 5-409, 5-410, 5-411 and 7-304. Each question names its section. The course facts in the topic "The course" (the six hour class, the topics, the rule for students under 10, the apprentice designation) are the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation's own, read the same day on its Hunter Education page, https://www.wildlifedepartment.com/education/hunter-ed, which is the published outline this page follows. The department publishes no number of questions and no pass mark for the test, so none is given here. The Commission's rules in the Oklahoma Administrative Code and its yearly regulations were not read and nothing is asked from them. Licence: Own work. Questions, answer choices and explanations were written for this site from the text of the Oklahoma statutes and the facts on the department's public page; nothing is copied from a hunter education manual, a study guide, an online course, a chapter review or an examination.

How it works

Unofficial practice for the Oklahoma hunter education test: our own questions, written from Title 29 of the Oklahoma Statutes, each with its section. Firearm handling, wildlife identification and survival are taught in the course and are not asked here.

Hunter safety study guide: Oklahoma law in four rules

Deer and elk hunters with firearms wear a head covering and an outer garment above the waistline carrying at least 400 square inches of daylight fluorescent orange. A deer is checked in online within 24 hours of leaving the hunt area. Consent to hunt another's land is presumed good for one year at most. Nobody shoots from or across a public road.

What the test is

The Department of Wildlife Conservation teaches a six hour class or an online course, then tests the student.

  • Apprentice license on big game: the accompanying hunter, 18 or older, stays within arm's length. On small game: in sight and within normal voice range.
  • Hunters under 10 are always accompanied on big game hunts.
