Brokers exam practice test, Michigan outline
The Department's candidate information bulletin lists 40 Michigan-specific items for brokers in five groups: the Department and the Board 3, licensing 4, requirements governing licensees 15, contractual relationships 5, additional state topics 13. This bank holds about one and a half times each.
Beyond Article 25
Much of the broker's Michigan portion sits outside the real estate article: complaints, hearings and penalties in articles 5 and 6 of the Occupational Code, the General Rules on trust accounts and offers, and statutes on security deposits, transfer tax, condominiums, civil rights and seller disclosure.
Signed written offers reach the seller within 2 business days after receipt (R 339.22132).
Trust account checks are signed by a broker or an associate broker, and the records are kept at least 3 years (R 339.22134).
The state transfer tax is $3.75 for each $500 of value, and the seller is liable for it (MCL 207.523, 207.525).
